The acquisition brings together reusable shipping systems and validated packaging for pharmaceutical deliveries from pallets to patients
Mannheim, Germany, 29 September 2026 – The pharmaceutical industry depends on reliable temperature control to move medicines, biologics, diagnostic products, and other sensitive healthcare materials safely. To support this growing need, German cold chain packaging company eutecma has acquired North American temperature-controlled packaging specialist Tempaid. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The combination brings together two businesses with different but complementary strengths. Eutecma develops reusable and modular temperature-controlled packaging, including its ICECATCH cooling systems, PROTECT shipping systems, and thermal covers. Tempaid adds solutions designed for parcel and last-mile pharmaceutical deliveries, including SpeedyPac mailers, SteadyPac thermal shippers, gel packs, and phase change material mats.
Together, the companies will provide temperature-controlled packaging across a wider part of the pharmaceutical supply chain. The combined portfolio will range from large pallet shipments leaving manufacturing facilities to smaller packages delivered directly to patients. This creates a single source for both reusable and single-use packaging solutions.
The acquisition also expands the technical capabilities available to customers. Tempaid brings expertise in vacuum insulated panels and phase change materials, along with in-house research and development and ISTA-certified thermal testing. Its manufacturing network extends across North America and Asia, supporting production and supply for customers in different markets.
For Eutecma, sustainability remains an important part of its packaging approach. The company develops systems designed for multiple shipping cycles and operates the retecma program, through which used packaging can be refurbished or recycled. Its passive cooling systems are designed to maintain required temperatures without relying on powered refrigeration during transportation.
The companies said their combined capabilities respond to changes in pharmaceutical distribution, where temperature-sensitive products are increasingly moving across longer distances and through more fragmented delivery networks. Smaller shipments and direct-to-patient deliveries have also increased the need for dependable last-mile temperature control.
Kevin Grogan, CEO of eutecma, will lead the combined company. Both organizations said they intend to maintain their existing customer-focused approach while increasing investment in product development and innovation.
The deal reflects a broader evolution in pharmaceutical logistics. As medicines become more temperature-sensitive and distribution networks become more complex, packaging must provide dependable thermal performance while meeting quality and regulatory requirements.
By combining reusable bulk shipping systems with validated parcel and last-mile solutions, eutecma and Tempaid are positioning their expanded business to serve more stages of the global pharmaceutical cold chain.
