Independent Medical Alliance (IMA), formerly FLCCC, has officially announced the launch of its Journal of Independent Medicine, which happens to be a groundbreaking peer-reviewed publication dedicated to restoring integrity, transparency, and scientific independence across medical research and education.
According to certain reports, the stated publication is designed to mark an industry-first in terms of prioritizing ethical scientific inquiry, as well as providing a critical platform for research which isn’t currently evident across mainstream medical journals. This includes studies on repurposed medicines, alternative and integrative therapies, medical ethics, constitutional rights in healthcare, the ongoing implications of COVID-19, and other healthcare policies.
Another detail contextualizing the importance of such an effort is rooted in the fact that medical research of today is largely driven by funding from the pharmaceutical industry, something which unsurprisingly introduces significant bias in clinical studies and publication decisions.
Fortunately enough, the new Journal of Independent Medicine will address this very gap.
“Our goal is simple but profound—restore trust in medical research by publishing truthful, high-quality science that is free from corporate and political influence,” said Dr. Joseph Varon, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Independent Medicine. “This journal will be a sanctuary for researchers and clinicians who want to engage in Honest Medicine and publish findings that can truly help patients, rather than serve financial interests.”
Talk about how the new publication will try and achieve its objective, the answer begins from its decision to not accept any funding whatsoever from the pharmaceutical companies, thus ensuring that research is evaluated on scientific merit alone.
Next up, there is an explicit intention to encourage full transparency. This will be pursued by mandating all authors to disclose conflicts of interest. Not just that, the submitted research must also undergo rigorous, ethical peer review.
Furthermore, for original investigations, the full original data must be available to the reviewers and editors.
Joining that is publication’s intention of shedding greater light upon underreported topics. You see, the journal in question is well-equipped to provide a hub for controversial and underfunded research, including studies on repurposed medicines, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and non-pharmaceutical interventions.
Markedly enough, the whole effort will also facilitate the release of negative and inconclusive findings. The idea behind doing so is to reap the scientific value of negative results.
As for the inaugural issue of the Journal of Independent Medicine, it will feature research articles, reviews, and critical discussions on topics like the hidden mental health crisis among doctors, Honest Medicine™ – Reclaiming scientific integrity in medical research, COVID-19 patient outcomes retrospective study, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (Part 1 in a series).
Beyond that, the issue will also cover Ivermectin and its evolving role in therapeutic medicine, Repurposed Medicine – Exploring cost-effective, evidence-based drug repurposing, Constitutional Rights in the COVID-19 Era, Disparities in access to healthcare, and Translational fidelity in mRNA vaccines.
“With 43 esteemed editorial board members representing 17 different countries, the Journal of Independent Medicine is built on a foundation of diverse perspectives and international collaboration. Each paper undergoes a rigorous double-blind peer review process by our editorial board members, ensuring that research is evaluated solely on its scientific merit, free from bias or external influence,” said Dr. Varon.
